Never in my life would I have pictured myself as an instructor teaching foundational CrossFit movements to boot campers. My background in fitness is not typical of Boot Camp or CrossFit in that I grew up doing ballet and nothing else--no soccer, no swimming, no rugby. I really didn't enjoy doing any kind of "sports" but I loved the challenge ballet presented in that "push your body to strange limits" sort of way.
When I started school at Georgia State, I maintained my "ballet body" for about 4 months until I gained more than the typical college freshman. My nutrition and exercise took a back seat to "having fun" and basically being lazy...oh, and of course studying. After graduation I knew I needed to do something, and taking a few ballet classes or hot-yoga classes here and there wasn't really giving me what I wanted.
I joined Fitness Battalion as a boot camp member and fell in love with the training style. After a few weeks as a bootcamper I started doing CrossFit. After doing CrossFit for a good while, I was lucky enough to be given the opportunity to start instructing my fellow peers at Boot Camp. It still shocks me to this day that I LOVE doing something so "sport-like." So much so, that I feel a passion to teach it to those around me. I hope I can show everyone how much fun working out can really be and how much it can actually change your life forever.
